Compaired to lastyear???

Just looking for some info. I came up this same time last year.  Last year was my first time up and I really had a good time.  Heard lots of people talking that last year was one of the worst runs in a long time.  I'm heading up this weekend (8 hr trip).  Just wondering if there are bout the same amount of steel in the streams (Elk and Nut) as this time last year or possibly more(more rain) or less.  I only caught 5 steelhead last year and still had an absolute blast.  I'm coming...just wondering what to expect.  Any chance there is any steel in raccoon creek? Thought I may try something new if its too crowded on the major streams.

no fish in raccoon unless the mouth has opened up. it's been closed for years...

Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.

Sometimes its good to look into small water. Elk can be a bit overwhelming.

I caught a jack and one about 6 or 7 lbs. there last week. Most guys look off of the bridge and do not walk up stream and try fishing. Do not expect to see alot of fish, most will be hiding behind root balls and any cover they can find. It is worth while if this is your cup of tea.

Thanks for all the feedback.  I'm sure that we'll spend most of our time on the Elk and the Nut, but I do enjoy adventure fishing and trying the path less traveled to get away from the crowds.  I do just want to say that just about everyone I met last year were super friendly and helpful.

Thanks, Been around since beginning. Just a little slow right now so I have more time for input. This sights is always entertaining and helpful sometimes. The trick is balancing both and not to take anything personel. We are fisherpeople after all.

I come prepared for combat fishing and I'll just sharpen my elbows.  But in reality, if someone is nice to me...I'm nice back.  If someone comes in and is throwing across my line....I'll put up with it because I know that they are just puddle jumping and will go jerk the guy at the next hole below me soon enough.  A little give and take makes it a good trip.  If I want to be a hole monger, I'll have a miserable trip trying to give everyone the stink eye thinking it will keep them away.
