Great catch
I can only get dUmb fish to bite .
Unfortunately, Browns must be smarter than that steelies...cause I've seen a few, but only caught two in 20 years
but help me with this one..
As far as flossing, i have done it and see nothin wrong with it,
is "flossing" the same/similar similar to linning?
In that you drift/swing your line into a sighted fish's mouth, then take up slack resulting in a hook up on the outside of the mouth?
or positioning yourself to swing drift your offering to the side of the fishes face ...which is what I call "linning"
I'm not going to question the ethics of chumming (I personally don't give a chit if someone chums) cause it's legal in Pa
and truth be told, I don't much care if they chum in Ohio either (even though it's not legal here)
but isn't flossing or lining just "evolved" snagging ??
I call it "evolved" snagging, cause it's mostly flyrod duuds that do it, and it takes "some" skill to drift your junk onto a fishes lip as opposed to ripping a trebble hooked lure thru a school of fish .
there's also a fine line between "force feeding" and linning .
I've "force fed" many a fish ...drifting my junk within an inch of their nose.
More often than not, you see they open their mouth and sip the offering ..that's a fair hooked to fish to me.
Sometimes that method does result in an ACCIDENTALLY lined or foul hooked fished , but honestly, it's pretty rare ..cause if you don't lift the rod when/if the hook hits the fish, 91.38 times out of a hundred , the hook will slide right over the fish
But I for one appreciate the candor and honestly in telling us you do line/floss fish and see nothing wrong with it.
But quite frankly, any lined/flossed fish doesn't deserve congratulatory pats on the back for one's fishing prowess or luck.
however, for the record, it doesn't sound like you lined the big brownie .
(and chumming ain't a big deal to "me")
So I say, great catch!!
