10/13

managed another day off from work and went back to same spot as yesterday down below trestle. small crowd again today fish were not holding at all, lots of kings but moving up steadily. Managed to land three kings all males saw one very large steelie landed up above me but  not many moving past. Today I saw something kinda disturbing to me and Im gonna vent, if you fight a fish and land it foul hooked or not and dont intend to keep it spend 2 minutes and revive it, you owe it at least that. I witnessed at least 3 instances were the hook was removed and the fish "kicked" back into the river and even heard one guy say as the fish is floating away "it will be alright in a minute". On our way out at 430 after another great day there is one small creek to cross and there is a fresh dead hen, gills still bright red so i took her eggs and got two quarts curing now in the fridge. Sunday afternoon I think ill find some float water and try the eggs out.

awesome 3fan; what was your excuse for todays absense??? diarrhea 2 days in a row is usually a red flag... lol...

yeah its a shame theirs ignorant people like that; but im sure the subtle comment like the one you made in your post will make more than a few folks think about reviving their fish before just flopping it back in... good job man...

I have trail work to do today for the sled club and its pouring now, if they cancel im heading back up. The fever is worse than its been in years, only made it to work for a half day all week. Gotta luv sick time, only 900 hours left.

    God bless you brother...

Hey let me ask since you mentioned trail work... do you catch much flack from the hunters when doing that; ive heard quite a few disgruntled hunters talking about it from time to time...

The season opens here tomorrow so were just trying to finish up the tail end of a new trail today, it also runs along side the small air strip in hamilton ny so no hunting allowed. There is a large pond it runs along but no fishing, last saturday I find at least 3, 5lb largemouths hanging next to shore looking for a meal. Might have to launch a few poppers today, get my fix!

I was out the other night and couldn't get a rise on a popper... its great when you do though especially on the 5 lb. Slobber types... cone headed woolies always work well... good luck...
