I'm confused do you want to troll the mouths of creeks or do you want to find steelhead in places other then the mouths of the creeks. Either way best advice I can give you is make some friends on the boards or the streams and earn some respect and all the knowledge you could ever want to know about Erie will be yours.

I'll give some tips that are not really secrets. ANYWHERE there is a flow such as small trickle creeks or anywhere there are streams around the lake steelhead stage off of. Just try black cranks bandits are without a doubt my favorite. Also don't be afraid to stray from other boats. Walnut, elk, and trout run hold fish farther than shore then people think sometimes even 30 feet deep just don't get too close too shore to p!ss shore anglers off. Lastly, you don't need 150ft of line for flat lining just 40-50 gets the job done. Some guys prefer downrigger rods but I go with old Shakespeare Alpha rods from the 70s that are extremely light with old reels. Nothing like a steelie zinging off a light rod with just 10-14 pound test
