Dutch forks

Me and my friend went out to dutch forks today. We spent about 2 to 3 hours fly fishing. It was more a test to see if we could catch something fly fishing. We caught 5, creek chubs First fish on the fly so i can't really complain, didn't get any pics though. I did have one trout follow my bugger in, didn't take it though.  Had a fun time though, wish i would've have caught a trout though, o well, we are going back out Monday, hopefully I'll get one then.

Really? The dhalo is usually good for at least a couple of good hook ups.

Try the smallest egg pattern you have (yellow/pink/orange) - Key is getting a natural drift

idk about that, where do they stock? the only place we caught and saw fish was right by the first parking spot coming off 40, we walked down the creek and saw 1 or 2 fish in a couple holes but that was it.Do they stock under the bridge or further above it?

They stock at the Columbia Gas property about 2 miles past the truck stop at the Claysville exit and at the downstream end off of 40 on lake rd. (I think that is where you were). I haven't fished it this fall, but fished it four times in the spring and it was loaded everytime. Unless they stocked all the fish at the Columbia Gas property, you should have encountered a bunch at the lower end. The jack dam pool usually has fish and there is real nice logjam just downstream from there which usually holds alot of fish.

nymphing for trout in heavily populated creek chub areas can be a pain. Those fish are so aggressive and you can never keep them off your nymphs, egg patterns etc. I rarely fish for stocked trout, but I am a big fan of a hare's ear with a pink san juan tied off the bend for stockies.
