Beaver Run Reservoir

I know that fishing is not allowed here, but I was interested in huntin' some gators.
Anybody know if this is a hot spot????

A friend of mine that works for the water company confirmed a gator sighting there. I didn't believe him, but then he took a picture of it when they saw it again. It is there.

There is a pict. in todays Trib., but I heard that there is a guy in an gator suit that was hired by the County Comm. to try to scare the poachers away.So that now you guys that sneak in there to hunt or fish must look on land & in the water. sam

I used to live real close (couple miles) to the lake and would fish it alot. It isn't the fisherman's paradise that everyone makes it out to be. There are some really good areas for sure but it is like any other lake in the fact that you still have to scout and find the fish. Some people think that Beaver Run is this mystical lake where you can throw a line in anywhere on the lake and catch fish after fish. Not quite.

The stories you have heard are true.  There are some seriously big fish in beaver run and your chances of throwing a line in and catching something worthwhile are far greater here than any other lake.  However, your chances of getting your fishing license revoked is not worth it.

Those of you that fish there can now sleep peacefully tonight knowing a team of alligator experts from the alligator hotbed of Pittsburgh are on the case: http://postgazette.com/pg/11285/1181369-100.stm

thanks for the response..........i can remember a private lake that i was taken to a few times when i was a kid. it is in the wexford area, actually it is still there. i don't remember the fish being HUGE but i remember catching large numbers of quality fish. the millvale sportsman club. that is my mystical lake............curious if it is still a productive lake after the last 25-30 years. lol i am OLD.

i have been checked by the fish comm. a couple times at the run. all they check is license and limits. they don't care if you fish there. but the water auth. will fine you for trespassing and the fine is high

I grew up right next to it and live about 2 minutes away currently, I understand how it works.

You will get your fishing license revoked in addition to a fine by the water authority. I have friends that work at MAWC so I know when they patrol and all that, but honestly it is not worth it unless you have a boat...go big or go home
