Your best bet would be to troll cleos with 12 pound braid up and down the channel of Walnut. As you go up and down just ask the bank fishermen whats the hot color. They are usually pretty helpful.

Absolutely People do it all the time... And they catch fish..... Assorted plugs and spoons would be my suggestion.... I haven't done much myself just because they don't taste as goods as Walleye.... I guess that makes Steelhead lucky..

Spoons with a few heavy shot a few feet in front of them in bright colors, orange, red and black are always good for small cranks as well trout run and godfrey may hold a few feesh...

frequently it helps to get your baits away from the boat. small in-line boards will do the trick.

If you have a smaller boat, use your electric motor. The steelies are much more fun to catch without a board on your line. JMHO.w_w.

If it has fins and gills, I'm there.

why late october? now is the time. docks get pulled end of october and then go to the bay. shallow running cranks are best. imo krocodile spoons in blue/silver are the best trolling spoon but way more snags than cranks. 5-12 feet of water. just sayin'

you're right. never thought of it as I don't have an electric but it sounds like a good idea.

You have had a lot of great input.

    Here's my 2 cents.....

12 lb line is good. Keep your drags loose. They run like crazy when they strike.
Like king nuke said and I agree. I have a lot of success with bright color spoons, pinks and oranges with silver are pretty hot.
If you don't have any boards and your gonna flat line use a electric trolling motor for sure. You may spook a lot of fish that shallow.
I prefer big boards with a mast over inline boards for steelies. There is way to much resistance against the fish with inline boards. You will have a lot of break offs. When a fish strikes with big boards the line snaps of the clip and its just you and the fish.
Also try reef runner little rippers. I caught a ton of steelies on those trolling at lake o.

    Good luck!

Make sure to check the weather and waves report. the lake can get pretty nasty this time of year.
