This Weekend!!

Heading up for steelhead this weekend. Is it really worth going up? How low is the water and have any more fish moved in over the week? Thanks in advance!

I was also there 2 weeks ago and I saw maybe only 20 or so fish in Walnut and it had no flow. Hopefully there will be a lot more fish this weekend.

Yeh, it's just great. And I hear nobody is fishing Elk or Walnut anymore, because they're too crowded.

You will see more fishermen than fish. I walked a couple miles of elk this morning and saw very few fish caught. If your going to come mupere', get here EARLY. Prime spots will be hard to come by.

Nowhere near 9 ft. I'd say 4 to 8.5 max. Need bigger spoons.

Correction, now they are back up to 9 to 12 ft.

If I could go I would go... by this time of year you can catch fish if you look around a little. That makes it "worth the trip."

forgive me, but I've just never understood that question... cause it's so subjective .

example, it's "worth it" to some guys to drive 2 hours to  fish gin clear knowing they may only see a few  fish
(that aren't already surrounded by 20 duuds chucking junk at 'em)
Obviously it's "worth it" to them too..or those poor trapped fish in the puddles wouldn't be surrounded every day

then there's the other side  of the coin... the duud that doesn't think it's "worth it" unless the creeks are in prime condition in the peak of the run of late Oct and  Nov

just no way to know what makes it "worth it" to any particular angler unless they define first what makes it "worth it' to them

It's always "worth it" to me. I don't care if there are fish, or not. My wife isn't there, and that's all the matters to me.

Bob & I took a ride this morning
Elk, walnut, 12 Mile, 16 Mile blownout. 20 Mile and Chautauqua never got the rain, still low and clear at noon.
Counted 12 guys at 20 Mile fishing in the puddles below the rte 5 bridge. 12 and 16 clogged with leaves
