LifeJacket Requirement

Has anyone seen that as of Nov 2012 all boats 16ft and under also kayaks and canoes from Nov 1 to April 30 will be required to wear lifejackets. This was passed at the PBFC meeting Sept 27 2011.

I think that's been mentioned before. Not really a bad idea, but not sure it should be legislated...

I'm just glad that my canoe is 16 feet 4 inches. I'll never buy a boat under 16 feet 1 inch now....

...careful, the way I read it is; all canoes & kayaks - regardless of length.

It appears that you are correct. That is really unfortunate. Looks like I won't be taking my canoe out until May from now on, or alternately, I just won't fish in PA between November 1 and April 30. I am getting ever closer to not even buying a PA license anymore.

Been wearing a life jacket on my kayak every day since I got it. Alot of my release tools are in the pockets anyways. Always thought people were crazy to not wear them when the water temps are below 50 degrees.
