An Eagle

Saw an eagle at Greenlick wednesday morning. The bird circled near me over the water then picked a fish off the surface and flew towards the woods to enjoy its breakfast. Mature bird with complete white head and tail feathers. This happened at 6:50am at about 60 yards from me.

About 5 years ago an immature eagle stayed around the lake for a month feeding on dead fish it found around the shore. I went out almost every morning to watch it eat its find, often within 50 yards of me.

There is also a pair of Osprey that has nested there for several years. Saw one of those yesterday.

Cool...I'll keep on the lookout next time I am out. I have seen the ospreys there (kids loved seeing them) but never saw the eagle.

I hit Greenlick pretty hard last week & watched the Osprey nail fish every evening that I was there, then they went into a tree right accross from me to eat.Seems strange to me,but although I have watched Eagles at Conemaugh & Crooked Creek feed on dead floating fish I have not norticed Osprey picking up dead fish, only diving for live ones.We watch them ignoring floaters at Twin Lakes all the time. Most people don't realize that Eagles are scavengers. sam

There is a nesting couple really close to Fisherman's Paradise in State College. The nest is HUGE. I havent seen an eagle in sw pa yet, but I did see a rather large osprey on chartiers creek last week.

I normally see only Ospreys which in their own are awesome to watch pluck fish out of the water espically if it's a bad day and you aren't catching anything...  But...  Does seeing an AH-64 longbow every time I go to Donegal count for anything?

Pretty sure we saw an eagle on Arthur on Saturday. We were debating it, but none of us are real bird experts. It appeared to have a white head, and was pretty big. Close to the 528 Bridge (eagle spot burning!). Surprised it wasn't over the road bed...

I saw one of those eagles at the Paradise back in April while i was getting my gear on. Unfortunatly that was the most exciting thing to happen for me that whole day.

Now you did it. That was my favorite private eagle watching spot.
