Loaded! - 85% Cohoes and rest Kings - Today!!

FYI - With the high sun, we saw fish top to bottom w/ the driftboat, Altmar to Pinneville.
-
All the usual spots as usual.
No one around, amazing!
-
We SAW approx. 3-400 fish between the trestle and the Fridge.
85% were those Cohoes that came in recently and the rest Kings.
Pods of 5 to 50! - Some prime spots were holding 100,s!
-
Figure those Cohoes will make a run betwween there and the upper Fly by Tues.
-
Those Kings who move slower will fill in all the spots in-between.
-
Best of luck to you all,
Randy

    Howdy Randy:

I was wondering when the first 2011 Jonezin report would surface here at FishUSA - I think you are the only guide that posts reports anywhere anymore. Keep them coming. No C&R haters here.

Glad to see you are back on the water and spotting fish like a dammed Yankee..

    ******
For the sake of discussion I will pose a possibly really stupid question that I always wondered about.
We all learned that the Slammin's sniff their way to their home waters for their final roll in the hay.
The Beaverbrook scent brings them to the hatchery, others veer off to the Upper Fly Zone.

Do you (or others) think that all the fish that migrate to the UFZ started life there? Or do some simply do a hatchery detour and go with the flow of other feeshes headed that way?

    I was/am perplexed by this...

    Please advise..

Nature never puts all its eggs in one basket.
While some tagged fish have been located on the same gravel where they were spawned there are always some strays.
I think lots of the first naturals went upriver because in some years in the day BD Brook was loaded nose to tail all the way back to the SR and they had to go somewhere.

New to fishing the Salmon. Went last year and hit the run a little late. Saw some but they were only being "snagged" by a few ****es that followed us around. We fish the river respectfully and properly. I know most of the pools. Just interested in some tips on rigs and what they are hitting. Last season we casted with a spin reel on a noodle rod with egg sacs. My buddy and I are both experienced fly fishing...just normally with a 5wt. Any info would be helpful! Planning on taking a trip out this coming weekend!

Wellll- tween what Randy is seein upriver and the recent positive reports from DSR downriver one would have to say ITS STARTED. All species aRe now coming in and they are starting to do so in numbers that can spread throughout the river so that even a 10% GUY LIKE ME HAS A CHANCE.
THE SEASON IS JUST GONNA KEEP GETTIN BETTER FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW- GOOD LUCK GUYS.
