Your hands are the best pole holders for silver bullets. Seen too many fly off the piers and out of some kind of holder. Or just make some from PVC pipe.

I just can't see how you can put a steelhead pole in a holder with the reels all the way in the back like they are. Oh Wait! You're not a fly fisherman! The horror, the horror. Simple, get some sch. 40 pvc pipe about 1-1/2 inches around. Cut about 2 feet off at a 45* angle. Use a table saw to cut a 6" slot in the other end (so your reel can slide in) and; ta da, you're done.

Me and Slick made a tripple rod holder for the canoe. You can kind of see in this pic the pvc used and the slits in the pvc for the reel shaft to slide down into.

Or a couple hose clamps instead of duct tape. Seen these used for catfishing.

I made some a while back, but don't use them any more. Mine were made more for wading. A place to put the rod down to change lures and have an open drink sit without having to wade to shore every time... 3-4' metal conduit. Put a point on one end to stick in ground. Other end, rivet about a foot of pvc on one side and drink holder on the other (cheap car window style holder). They're nice, but another thing to carry, and don't mind sitting on the bank to rest every so often now...

I built mine with 2 feet of PVC, several holes at different levels through the center for hitch pins to keep rods from going too deep in the holder, Hose Clamps, and 3 feet of Angle iron that I cut to a point on the bottom. I have had good success with them in the surf.
