How bad did it get?
That was the most water I've seen in a long time. 10.5 inches fell at my house. Some roads gone, some houses too. So far the fire company Im in has done 46 calls for assistance and two house fires, both of which the outcome wasn't good. May have screwed up my casting shoulder after I got caught in the collapse of the second house. Guess no 30#ers for me this year. Hope everyone is ok and damages minimal

I live on the border of Vermont on the Battenkill. Many houses along the rivers were flooded, a covered bridge got swept away, some roads collapsed. A few towns had some evacuations. Our local supermarket flooded. All the trout rivers I fish are going to have some heavy damage, they were all out of their banks and out into the corn. One small river that has a great population of big wild rainbows was floating 50 foot logs down it. We already had tons of damage to the upper Hudson in the record floods this April. Now we got a few more "historical" records. F'in whoopee. Charlie

I saw that bridge go on the news...what a shame. Bad news on the streams. Wonder how the fish made it. The lives that the flooding cause was a tragedy. God be with them.

For you folks that had historic floods , I really feel for you all and wish nothing but the best.. I have been through many, many floods here in my home town and luckily this just seemed like the usual.. I will say at least here in my town we have had much more damaging hurricanes in the past.. Hugo was a killer.. Keep the faith that all will be right again !!

They did that hear after Agnes blew thru and some of them are still just canals with no holes, rocks for cover or mant fish.

My oldest kid lives up in Vt by Mount Peilier ( sp) said they got pounded with the rain. Floods all over. No hurricane just lotsa rain. Said he saw a large Propane tank flyin down a river. This was certainly NOT a hurricane but certainly WAS a rain event.

My wife has to drive an hour out of the way to get to work in Manchester, Vt., as many bridges are out. A 4 lane bridge they just replaced at great expense and time delays went out and took the town of Bennington's water supply with it, as the pipe ran along the bridge. These are from the floods on the Hudson in the first week of May. Not often I can yak in flooded cornfields. Bass, pike, crappies and carp were swimming around the old stalks. A small silver lining. Hey nice fish fichy! Yeah its real bad around here, still trying to get help to some people cut off by the large washouts. Shoulder is ok thanks to pain killers and working out. Ended up taking on another house fire last night, room and content, made a fast knockdown on that one, saved the house. The real bummer is a decent portion of my usual route north to the SR is severely damaged or gone. So if the salmon wait awhile that's fine by me.

Tuna is he from a Colonie station? I know a bunch of Pats, all great guys, and girls almost made another mistake. Really though I think the catskills were ground zero for Irene. Catskill creek, Batavia kill, Schoharie creek, Esopus, Delaware, all major\catastrophic areas. Some famalies still missing. . . And so are their homes. Helicopters searching everyday. If you trout fished here before, you wouldn't recognize it anymore

Guess those of us in the predicted 'second landing' in central Ct got real lucky with the rainfall- we only got bout 5 inches or a bit less- better than the 40 foot wave weather they first claimed. Hope all you in the heavy rain and runoff areas make out ok. Guess it all comes down to where ya are- my youngest is working double shifts till its done repairing lines here in Ct and the oldest is waiting for the water to go down so he and the Ms can get out and go to work in central Vt.

Thanks Retired. You really narrowed it down Tuna. Yeah I know Pat, they came and helped us out on the second house fire. Im close friends with the chief of Coeymans Hollow, they were pretty buried by that creek coming out of the alcove res. The good news is clean up is moving along pretty quick. Small world Tuna, if your friends fish up there i'll pick them up. Lol

Sad to hear, I was born near and lived a few blocks from that river . Caught my first big fish, a carp, out of it when I was 4. Prayer sent for those whose lives are torn. Dime, I was born in Belleville, if you were wondering- across the river from Kearny. Charlie

All of my supply houses are in passaic... everynow and then I stop at one in belleville; just last year I did a 2 floor renovation in columbus hospital in north Newark... I know the area very well... luckily I thinkfrom southern passaic and down; most are protected from the retaining walls... its paterson and north of it that are getting smoked... lincoln park and wayne are ready to just float off the map at this point... its pretty sad to watch man...
