late summer smallmouth

Coming up with my father-in-law over Labor Day weekend for some catch and release bass fishing. Can anyone give me some tips on how/where to target smallies this time of year? I know some good spots I fish earlier in the May/June, but have never tried for them this time of year. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I figured I'd start close to where I was catching them twhen I was up a few months ago. I assume they will probably be a little deeper now? Guess not many folks are fishing for them now.

Got into some pretty nice ones in 46-52' today. Dropshotting with Jackall Cross Tail Shads and some custom handpours.

Hey Trout About, any general tips for an Erie smallmouth newbee. Took the kids out of Presque Isle marina on Saturday. First time for us on the lake. Are they in that 40-50 ft range or can you find them shallower. Thanks!

We started in 50' early on Saturday and only picked up 3.  Moved to another shallow spot and they were biting much better.  We found them to be more cooperative in the 20' range.   I am a die-hard dropshotter, but reverted to chucking tubes when the DS bite slowed.  Tubes in watermelon, green pumpkin and smoke/purple flake always seem to work.
