The water on Elk was good this evening.  I did not personally catch any steelies, I did talk with some guys who said they had a great day.

It was what I would consider perfect, Walnut and Elk both. Good flow, green hue.

Started out slow for me but finally found what they wanted and ended up with one of my better days on the tribs. Had one take one run straight into my backing as soon as I set the hook and broke off.

Good luck tomorrow, the conditions will be perfect!

We decided to cancel our Friday and Saturday trip to Erie due to the tribs being flooden on Thanksgiving. Many reports said the tribs would not be fishable until next week. Then mgolf pointed another fellow newbie to the water flow charts on the fish erie site. After looking at the charts we decided to make the 3 hour drive and fish for the day. Man am I glad. It was our best day ever. Many hookups, everybody was catching fish. Thanks to the folks who help out us newbies.

All places I went on Walnut had mostly inactive fish. They stuck to the bottom like glue. Very few fish in fast waters concidering the good flow. Of all the anglers I spoke to in the creek it was agreed that the catching sucked. Good hike though. I had 2 hook up's. Other anglers spoke of getting maybe 1 bump.

I think I caught one fish in a couple hours on upper Walnut and experienced much of the same...inactive fish, little to no fish in faster water.

Something I'm wondering about is the access spot at Milfair Road. I originally went to fish this spot first and there were about four or five cars on the eastside of the road and a few others on the west side of the road. I didn't even bother, though, because there were posted no trespassing signs everywhere, despite the vehicles parked there. So my question is, is this area open to the public or not? I don't remember those signs being there last year but I could be wrong...

From what I understand you can no longer park there but can fish it if accessed from above or below Milfair. Thats means hiking a long way. Maybe someone can shed some light on this by stating the fact. I know that in the creek around that area there is some posted's to keep anglers out of the woods and out of hunters sights.

This was the first place I intended on fishing, and like I said, there were probably ten cars total counting both sides of the road...the posted no trespassing signs on every tree and on the gate made my leary and thus I went elsewhere.

I guess short of having permission, apparently these people were breaking the law...

I never said I would do you any favor, let alone a radiator for an air cooled engine. Bring your Kenworth in and I'll fix you up by charging you double. Sound good? I don't work are cars much these days. Only from time to time.

I fished around the Legion hole yesterday evening right before dark, but did not get any hits.  I talked with a couple of fellows who said they had a very good day.  While I was there, I did not see any fish caught.  I guess they were all tired from biting all day...  The water looked good, so good luck to all who will be up Sunday and Monday.

The fishing was great at Elk on Saturday.  Between me and a buddy we landed 23 steelheads on egg patterns.  The creeks look good and should keep getting better.
