Pline Floroclear
Has anyone used this line? I'd like to know what you thought of it if you have used it and if you would recommend it for steelhead. If you have used it and do not like it, what do you use now?

i was using 4lb floroclear for a while for trout fishing. i stopped using it because it just was'nt strong enough, i had it break on a trout that probably was'nt even 12" long. if you wanted to use it for steelhead i'd move up to at least 6lb test. i switched over to using 4 lb Sufix Elite monofilament. that stuff is awesome, you can spool it up without the line twisting on you and it's a lot stronger than the floroclear.

I have used it and still do here an there. Only thing i dont like that much about it is stiffness, not as limp as some of the newer floros or floro coated lines.

i use power pro braid no leader if you think a floro leader is needed the pline floro works good the stren floro is as stiff as a wire brush so not a good choice as of yet

Leadman, You use power pro straight to the hook for steelhead? What lb test? Lake or stream? Even low n clear? You must be very confident. I like seguar invisx

Fluroclear isn't too bad I use 8lb for smallies and have only had one break off but that was after about 1/2 the season on the same knot and no doubt there were many abrasions... I don't know for steelhead though, I think i'll just stick to my Yo'Zuri hybrid ultra soft in either a 6 or 8.

all of the floro lines have problems with brittle batches i also don't like the no stretch so i just use mono if you want to use the floro i use 2lb heavier main line mono and a lighter floro leader...that works and reduces the line you loose, plus you find out real fast if you got a piece of brittle line

I've used P Line flouroclesr since 2004 in 4 lb for local and 6lb for steelies when drifting. I may sound crazy but it seems to have stretch at times. More than mono. Has worked well for me. I backreel instesd of using the drag when the fish runs and I think this gives me more leeway. The limpness of the line hurts when a fish spits the hook right back at the rad and a nasty tangle around the rod ensues.

ORIGINAL: fish whisper Seagar Red Line is awesome, runs for about 10 bucks a spool of 250 yards fill your reel or pack it as leader material and never run out Marketing for fishing gear is funny. Red lines disappear and help one catch fish, red hooks are visable to fish and are supposed to make lure look like a stressed or bleeding baitfish. Invisible or not? Red is the first color of the visible spectrum to not be color visible in the water with achieved depth. I think this means it appears black at the point color is lost. If I am right both hooks and line will look black and not disappear. Seem weird that plugs that dive deeper than 10ft(I think this is the depth in clear water red loses it's color) are sold with red hooks.
