I did not think guys fished with live bait for steelies ???????

The sad thing is, you're serious.

What, no steelhead fishing within a 10 -15 mile radius of the old home corn pile?

haha, that's funny stuff right there.

you know what I love about this place?
you can take a short hiatus or a long one, but when you come back, it's still the same familiar place, with the same familiar topics  that I know and love....

I don't really have a problem with how anyone fishes....I just think it would be nice if Erie had a designated area without basketball bobbers slapping the center of the hole....where guys knew the flyline has to go backwards b4 it goes forward....where you never saw a stringer full of fish.

Just because an area is artificial only doesn't mean you won't have a massive bobber splashing down in the hole you are fishing.  I've tied and fished feather and hair jigs for years.  While I like to put a maggot on for some scent, I've caught a fair number of steelhead without live bait on jigs.  A lot of people use big bobbers with light weight jigs to get more casting distance, which are still considered artificial, so here comes the splash in your bait-free zone...

I wish they would do that with one of the Erie streams. I'll bet it would have the cleanest banks, and good numbers of fish. I think 20 mile would b a good choice.

The upper end of Chautauqua Creek is posted the same way. Parking area and path to the creek

Isn't it even more restrictive? Only flies, one hook?

NO, Artificial only means no bait. Jigs, spinners etc are legal. Spinning rod, pinning ok. just no treble hooks. No trebles applies to all the creeks above rte 5.

I know its a pipedream.....but does having a dream make me guilty of infighting or choosing sides?

My parents and teachers said I could be anything I want...were they wrong?

totally agree.

I like the Colorado idea for wild trout waters. I'd like it even more if they took it a step further and banned treble hooks.
