sight fishin carp

I've been sight fishing carp w light tackle at w moreland county lakes the past couple weeks. While my fiance jogs the track. Quite fun stalking these fish in shallow water and thick weeds and small shallow streams . I'm only getting 6-10 lbers but they'll sure make a light action outfit sing on their first and last runs. Small hook 3-5 pieces of corn no weight. Get it about 3' in front of em and twitch it once when they get close. Gets em every time. Hooked one on my 10'6" lt action noodle rod w 4lb flouro in heavy cover he ran bout 10' and broke off, probably for the better I never would have been able to drag him outta the weeds ne way.

Yeah, on my phone, not worth the effort. They make it way to complicated to post pics on this site. I think we've all seen a 7lb carp ne way. Anybody else catch em like this? Or just bomb it out there and wait.

used to use mealies back in the day when they would pile up in wheeling creek spawning during trout season, good freaking time on the old ultra light. they would chase them down!

Fishinguy decreasing the size of the hook some will greatly improve your odds some. Biggest I use now is a 4 but regularly fish 6 or 8's and those will handle larger fish. Larger carp spook easy so downsizing works wonders.

Believe it or not when w these big hooks I have a very good hook up ratio. If I see a fish feeding and moving along I can probably hook 90% of fish if I place the cast right. The bigger hook also casts much better as I don't use a sinker. I do use a sz 8 or 10 sometimes in smallest water(streams) but have used the bigger hook in an 8" deep crystal clear silty flats in a stream w very good success. As to the bigger fish, I select the biggest one I see see, so I geuss its just the lake.
