Crazy Two Days
Ok well in the past two days I have had some hilarious fish phenomanas happen. Yesterday I traveled up to the Slipper Rock Creek for some carpin and cattin I was there 10 minutes when my buddy lost my pole and it flung out into the middle of the creek. This isnt just like the creek most of you guys know it right by the dam on 173 so there it was gone. I had my line 6 lb line and 8 lb line break 3 different times and lost two photo perfect fish right at shore so after a resupply at wal mart last night I got some gear that could handle the fish. So I found myself back up there today with my best bud again and sure enough the carp were active sucking up these floating dough balls we made one peciliar fella was afraid to leave his cover under the bank was eating all the sloppy second he could get. So I threw behind him and brought it up and just let it sit I had no idea it was going to be this: [image][/image]  [image][/image]  [image][/image]  [image][/image]  That was the first landed today. Pretty soon we had about 5 then it slowed real down so we threw some dough balls on for the bottom and sure enough I had one take me upstream and brought in an extra line and attached to it was my line from my pole I lost yesterday. The neighbor happened to be swimming upstream and was kind enough to float his raft and unsnag my pole! Just goes to show theyre are still some cool guys out there haha even offered to take us out on his boat. Later we had my pole just bouncing and bouncing and bouncing and sure enough haha this thing kept peeling drag and didnt surface then a tail kick with spines looked like that killer stingray with that barb Jeremy Wade caught and sure enough it was a snapping turtle foul hooked I tried to get it in so I could get the hook out of its throat we video taped the fight but it was bad Im going to look into posting it if you guys are interested its funny as all get up

Not sure, but I'd imagine getting a hook out of the throat of a snapping turtle, isn't the best idea...

Yeah them turtles will try and get ya. Amazing how long their necks stretch out when theyre trying to bite you. That's a fat carp, you weigh it?

Nope I'd say 20 plus pounds though the turtle was just as heavy if not more

Where was your drag set at ? 6-8 should not break if your drag is set right and there are no nicks in the line. I would go a little heavier and use flouro leader or braid and fluro.

had nothing to do with the drag not being properly tuned they just ran under snags theres a sunken dock and a downed tree downstream, not to mention these lilly pads. I'd like to see if I can post the video here hold on

the rock has some big crap in it thats for sure! Woops i mean carp 
Save a horse, ride a Lund Friends don't let Friends fish for Trout (Stockies that is..)

haha thats for sure, we gotta couple channels that were 20 plus, not sure if theyd be alright to eat from there alot of the sewage systems run in there apparently ?
