Allegheny River Largemouth?
Have they been stocking them in the rivers? I only ask because in the past 2 years I been catching more and more largemouth on topwaters. I also see alot of baby ones. Just asking cause before this I seen maybe 2 or 3 in 20+ years compared to hundreds of smallmouth.

I have never seen anything that would support that the game commission has ever stocked large or smallmouth bass in the 3 rivers. All natural reproduction.

All the high water the past two springs may have pushed more out of the lakes and down into the rivers. I know there are a lot below Conemaugh Dam and Loyalhanna Dam and I'd imagine below Crooked Creek. They could easily move down from there into the rivers.

-1 It's been raining for thousands of years(maybe more). LM's have been in the rivers a long time.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely. The closer we adhere to the Holy Bible and the US Constitution (as it was written) the closer we get to the model that made America great. The great American experiment worked, human nature just got in the way.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I knew they were in there but haven't seen nearly as many as I have this year. I fish the mouth of a small trib and you even see baby largemouth chasing minnows with the baby smallmouth.

Possibly due to warmer water the past few years? Flooded out reeds and other spawning areas at the right time? It's good to hear though. Not sure if I have ever caught a LM in the rivers. A bunch of spots, which I used to think were largemouth, so am unsure if I ever did.

Yeah on the other hand I haven't caught a spotted in a few years. Another question is where do the white bass disappear to after mid June? Cant keep them off my lures in May/early June. Deeper water I guess? The spot I fish is mostly shallow.

The moment of truth. Where all other things unconsciously melt away from our minds the instant a fish takes our fly. We stand there on the water with wide eyes, caught in a battle stance with an idea of confidence and hope

Caught spotted bass in the Ohio and beaver rivers, usually in the spring though? Largemouth and spots are easily confused.

Took my twin 3 year olds fishing in a different spot cause my usual spot is hard to get too and caught a few white bass yesterday. The water was alot deeper there so I guess they go deeper later in the summer. Even caught a gar on a zara spook. But yeah my friend thinks spotted bass are largemouth when he gets one. I dont argue with him cause he is one of those I'm never wrong people lol. I know to check and see if the jaw bone extends past the back of their eye. These are definitely largemouth I'm catching.

Posting pics on this forum seems like a mistake. I got 4 largemouth from the river this year and probably wont catch another one anyways.
