weighted Jets

Hey guys.  I was just wondering what your thoughts on how deep a jet 40 will dive down with 1oz of weight and also 2 ozx of weight?  I know it all depends on line dia and speed and also feet back but im just trying to get a feel for using weighted jets and my guess would be im prob getting 5-7 feet deeper per oz. Any info would be great.  Thanks.

Your thinking is probably right. Might gain a little more depth using small braid traveling a little slower (<2 mph).

We used to run up to 3 & 4oz beadchains in front of jets and connected the snap right into the top setting on the jet.

I would guess a little less about 4' an oz at 2mph, the new tru-trips have a deeper dive curve than the jets do, but i think the ten miles i have those jets away from the boat helps out especially on flat sunny days...

One of the reasons I prefer jet divers is that they float.. I fish alone more often then not and there are times when I have to slow down or stop completely. With jets I don't have to worry about snagging the bottom.. Adding weight would defeat the advantage of using a jet.. (or the newer tru-trip)..
Why not just get a deeper diving jet.. or use a dipsey or downrigger?

I just can't see any advantage of adding weight to a jet... Is there any ???
