Chest Packs
Looking to get a chest pack.
Any reccomendations or ones to stay away from.
Some of them look way to bulky.

Bings, I just picked up a Fishpond Tumbleweed a few months ago and I love it, though I converted it to be worn as a sling as opposed to a chest pack. It's big enough for me to carry all the essentials, but small enough to prevent me from taking way too much.

I like my fishpond blue river, its really versatile and has a decent amount of room. I would say look at Fishpond, I liked their packs alot more than the current simms and William Joseph. Possibly also look at Orvis, they came out with a new line of packs this year.

Bings, Personally, I like the sling style better which is how I use my F.P. Blue River. Enough room for all I need and what I'll be using up north soon. A buddy on mine has the Tumbleweed and likes it but he also converted it to a sling like Cold did. There's lots to choose from out there though. Good luck on your choice.

I use a vest but my grandson has always used a chest pack up untill he got the Orvis sling and now he likes the sling for anything but long days. Says it's more convenient and easier to manage. He really liked his pack though. It was one by Bass Pro.

I've used a lot of packs and the one in the link seems to have the most efficient setup. I've had mine for about six years so keep in mind models/concepts newer than this, I haven't tried. http://www.ffisw.com/?p=234 The downsides of this pack is you can't see your feet and when you load up the back (say ... a bottle of something) it loses its balance.. since there are usually flies/tippet in the front. My zipper just broke on mine so I think I'll be looking for a new pack soon too.
My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

I love my confluence pack. I've had mine for 4 years. the only problem I've had is that one of the zippers stopped working, but it's no big deal because there's 2 zippers on that same track, and one of them still closes it up and holds well. Other than that, I've had no problems and will probably buy another when this one is no longer wearable.
If you remove the fly tray in the front, the pack will hold two medium sized fly boxes, and a shot dispenser without getting too crowded up front. If you need more boxes, you can put them in the back, and still likely have enough room for a packable jacket.

It's pretty obvious that you are not of the snob level to know the handshake and I serously doubt that you even read all the volumes of the member's handbook. Just a poser. Or is that hoser? Whatever, but definately not an ubersnob, and probaly not even an elitist. Shame. Shame.

If you're anything like me, cheap and easy to please, pick up one of these if only temporarily. They're completely functional, light weight, and always on sale for something ridiculous like $7. Mine fits two 6" boxes, 3 smaller circle boxes, a spool of leader and tippet, split shot, pliers, hemos, and clippers. I don't even use the foam fly holder, but it's practically another box. I just switch out fly boxes depending on the fish that I'm going for.
