Oh Canada?
Gentlemen, Been trying to make another trip up but so far I have been unable to find really nice lodgings in the Erie area for any length of time. It seems that everything is being taken by Canadians who are down to shop. Does anyone know when they stop coming down so a peson can get a good motel on Peach Street. I like to fish both East and West side streams and Peach is very central. I've never had such a tough time getting a room as this year.

Try to go shopping around here....man....The falling American dollar is killing us. My Canada fishing trip that used to cost $700 now costs a thousand...

sstaz, If you are right then that makes about 6,200 people. That would make Erie about the 10th largest Canadian City LOL. So I guess that makes them "downers". As in all them "downers" coming in to take all our good shopping. Heck, put in a hockey rink and they may never leave. But y'all will have to get used to that there strange, round bacon. But it's good for the economy.

We welcome our northern neighbors. They are spending a ton of money down here. That is good for the economy. Besides the are usually friendly as long as you don't between them and a bargin....

PA doesn't have sales tax on clothing. Probably Canada has tax on clothes plus has the favorable exchange rate. I live only about 10 miles from Ohio. We get many shoppers from the buckeye state, especially for our cheaper kegs of beer.

The busses from Canada have been coming to Erie for years. Every weekend they're parked at Valu City and Gabriel Brothers makin' a killing.

Not only is the exchange rate good for them, but so is the fact that they don't have to pay HST or GST, they are here every year.
