Kayak fishing

Just invested in a small 10 foot kayak and was curious on any tips of how to drift fish slow troll or any good techniques to use on one. Also I was curious if any thinks it is a good idea to put rod holders out on the sides. Thanks

Welcome to the world of kayak fishing! I have caught many fish "Kayak Trolling". Add the rod holders! I have two adjustable rod holders positioned forward and two nonadjustable positioned aft. Install the forward ones within an arms' reach. Be mindful of your paddle arc. My foward ones are center about 30 inches in front of me. Just wait until you hook into your first kayak muskie! A fair sized muskie will pull you on a good ride! Let us know how you do.

I've always wanted to try Kayak fishing! But everytime I see on it has a person in it and they get pi$$ed when I try to hook it. You know of anyplace where they school up and run free?

I go out in front of trout run at night time with my 10 foot kayak I drill a hole with a 2in pcv pipe put a flashlight in it and tape a plastic cup to the top of it this way it still makes it legal with one light above, I head torwards walnut with one rod and paddle backwards. It is so nice out at night time to look at ALL of the stars. One night at the end of May I landed a 7 pounder walleye

I just got back in from Walnut. I just took the yak out to get a front row seat for the sunset. There was someone down here in an ultralight plane buzzing the beach and racing jet skis. He flew mere feet over one boat and I am certain that he did not realize how close he came to clipping the antennae.

Just thought I would add this. I have been out every night on the lake with my yak since my last post. What amazes me is how close you can get to fish when you are kayaking. The other night I went up Walnut as far as the Stop sign hole, I was passing over fish and they did not even spook. I have had fish jump tight next to the kayak, schools feed around me.

I fish a lot by myself, is it safe to assume that its better to fish alone in a kayak than a canoe?
