Steelie.... fiberglass/composite/aluminum? Approximate weight rating? length? or do none of these matter?

If you plan on fishing from the canoe i can highly reccomend a Sportspal very stable with the sponsons on the side, but if your just after canoeing down creeks and rivers not very good because of the width not very manuverable.

I second the sportspals but they are pricey even used. However, you can install sponsons on the side of any canoe (I have some on my coleman) and they work great! They are easy to install but they run about $80/set but they are well worth it. I got mine out at nye's in conneaut lake. Scariest part is putting holes in your canoe

I ended up getting a nice canoe...Coleman Scanoe 14' and 38" wide. has 3 benches, sits great in the water and steers well.

We used one up in Canada, put a 6 hp motor on the back and man would that thing go.
Only thing better was the look on the fellas face in the front of the canoe, he was about 18" of off the water at full bore....

    I had a Coleman canoe.
    Never any problems with it.
