Catfish on shrimp

I just got back fishing for channel catfish using shrimp and I hammered them! I caught 2 over 11 lbs! Is shrimp the best bait for catfish? What do you think

a 20 inch brown trout makes a lot of cutbait.

Them are some big channels. Where'd ya get em? I get my biggest channels on bluegill heads. But Im usually targeting flatheads when I get em. Shrimp are too tasty for me to give to catfish, bluegills and chubs r free.

I use shrimp every time I'm targeting channels, I think it and crawfish tails are two of the best baits. I also use hotdogs, worms, keilbassa, chubs, shad, shinners etc..
But raw shell on shrimp always produces the best for me. You can buy them fairly cheap at Walley World, med size 40-60 shrimp per pound for like $4. Cheaper than that many crawlers....
But thats just my thoughts, everybody has their own fav baits. If it's working for you on your waters, I wouldn't switch up.
Like Fishinguy said, they are tastey. While night fishing cook a few shrimp and a hotdog over the fire on a stick and enjoy, surf and turf !!

I consider shriimp one of my top 3 go to baits.  Best place I found where to get it is ALDIS.  Although I believe catfish feed different due to location and conditions making other baits more favorable for different lake and rivers.    Although there are sometimes I use cut bait to eliminate getting shrimp picked off by the little fish.

Hard to beat live blue gills, if you can keep the bass & toothy critters off of them. I have caught channles up to 36" on them.I also like fresh caught cut gills, but it seems that bull-heads & leatherbacks like the cut bait also. sam

I agree with Hummer and Mr.Crappie. The little fish will pick at the shrimp durring the day and the turtles like it as well. But, thats mostly in the rivers from my experience, not as bad in the lakes.
