Surf/shore fly fishing Erie area

I am a surf eat , do lots of surf fishing
With the fly rod and plug rod in the salt.
Was thinking of all the trips to Erie for
SteelHead,looking at the lake.
I can't seem to remember any one
Working the shore lines.
Does this type of fishing happen?
Would like to give it a try.
As far as fish I guess it depends on the time of
Year. But a tug on the line is what it all about
