Night Fishing

Was wondering where good night fishing would be? We are in Pittsburgh and new to the area (from Erie) Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Mon Warf
    Southside Park at 18th St
    North Shore near stadium
    Near convention center
A few places near Mckees Rocks-not sure where to access
Catfish are popular but you might find walleye or some bass

Lake Arthur (Moraine State Park).   It is primarily a night fishing type lake.  Noted for some nice Bass, Musky, Catfish, and Hybrid Stripers.  It is located near the intersection of Int. 79 and Pa. Rte. 422.  Best of luck.

i used to fish the mouth of the montour run in the back channel in coraopolis. I have caught walleyes day and night and alot of big flatheads on cutbait. it is easy to get to but kind of secluded near the railroad tracks i always brought a hand gun with me at night anywhere i went. Dashields dam in crescent can be productive with walleye and catfish near the lock on fatheads on a slip sinker rig on the bottom.

Find a dam or bridge pier with deep water...bluegill, trout, big creek chubs as bait...slip rig with 2-3oz pyramid weight...hold on tight. You can catch monster fish all over the greater pittsburgh area. some of the biggest fish ive caught were within walking distance of the point dahn tahn...

Night fishing on the river can be very productive. Catfishing with live chubs or cut bait and throwing topwaters for smallies is a riot. Good luck to you! I fish mostly the Tarentum and Harmarville areas.

You can't fish at the point can you?  I always wondered but never though to ask anyone.  And how about the "river walk?"

I had tried fishing the river from North Shore, that was the best spot i could get since the point was all fenced off. This was during the day and nothing was really caught. Anybody hear of a place that is sort of by kennywood? I can't remember how to access the site. Looking to head out tonight.

or 6th St...It's in the town of Braddock (go across the Rankin Bridge from Kennywood).  Not the type of place you want to leave your windows down while you're not in your car....but a good spot to fish.

I think it's 11th street in Braddock... beautiful downtown Braddock... April & May fishing in Braddock is some of the best river fishing you'll do.  Take a few jigs, some 3 or 4 inch cht. twister tails, and keep your bait swimming above the bottom - very snaggy.  You can pick up dozens of white bass before the sun sets over the hill and then the white bass bite becomes a sauger bite.  Smallmouths & walleyes too.  I've fished there and despite the crime in the neighborhood I've never encountered unfriendly people fishing the river.  Met a lot of good guys there.

I have never had a problem with crime in that area.

Probably because I never get closer than 30' from shore
