PP,a 5 weight is good for larger stream fishing for trout but too light for the SR.If you're fishing small to medium streams go with a 3 weight. For the SR a 6/7 weight 10' would be ideal. For the sharks a 8/9 weight also 10' would be good.

Boat bans are finally lifted on Oneida - the wally season is officially open.

but i think I will wait awhile - no wake rules on the whole lake - should be bumper-to-bumper bumper boats out there for awhile.

    Pete,
Always used a 5 in trout streams was OK but some go  lower for stocked trout. Used an 8 1/2 ft 5 this winter on Steel and it was ok but I really think a longer 8 would be better on the SR as an all around Shark and Steel rod.. The 5 did winter stuff cause they are more lethargic than the ones in warmer weather. In Oct Nov or April they would be really tough with the 5.
The 5 always did me well for trout in other places and it was great for largemouth with surface poppers too.

BTW did that death run thing this week - up wed pm home thurs pm still have jet lag.

hey pistol guys are right about 3 weights for trout mostly; but if you're fishing the neversink which I have much experience fishing myself; I would suggest a 5 weight... 5 weight will give you a little more backbone when needing to make a far roll cast and also will manage long drifts much better than a #3... now; if you're going towards east/west and main delaware; 6 and 7 weights are best... good luck...

Ps... if you are going to venture in to catskill troutfishing; che k out creeks such as the calicoon, mongaup, ten mile, esopus, and basket... for the pennsy side; diberry and lacawaxen always fished well for me...

Hey tuna; went 1 for 4 on dimebright droppies saturday morning. Full of life and energy... even the little guys were pulling out the drag... most would think these fish were fresh out of the lake with their silver coloring and ferocious leaps.... so keep it cool on the discrimination :)

Btw; there were many people harassing the tired fish upriver; but not this angler...oh yeah, nice brookies:)

Hey Tuna=Were you up at Ellis Wed PM- had just arrived and spoke to a guy there who looked a lot like you? Talked about an old timer who fishes there who had just the right slot for Steel.

this was my best reward brought to hand; i'll take a 3 lb droppy like this anyday though (but would prefer the 9 pounder i lost at the bank :)... for mothers day; i am having problems uploading these pics for some reason from my phone to my computer but it was spent with my wife son and daughter catching large mouths... priceles i tell ya...

for the salmon river, i believe drop backs will be on the bite for a few weks to come; but finding them is the hard part...
