Yum Money Hound

For those who dont know these are zara spook look alikes, but they are semi soft plastic bait. the upside to these is that these use a basic plastic worm hook that is meant to be rigged weedless to get the classic walk the dog action of a zara spook over weed beds where the classics just get snagged. They're also weighted to theyre easily casted. has anybody used them? anybody have any luck with them?

they definately catch fish but spooks outfish them..these are the third time someone has put out a soft plastic spook ans ive bought them all...i think the bouyancy of the spook is what sets them apart..you cant let the plastics set still on top or slow the retrieve too much b4 they sink..you'll catch more with the hard lure but you'll lose more money in the trees too

yeah but if i can pull a fish from on top of a weed bed that a spook wouldnt be able to fish then i consider it a success, nothing will ever be as good as the original. but undoubtedly this is a good step for the walk the dog type lures

I just picked up some of these last night. my concern is missing hooksets due to the single weedless hook. I was experimenting with running some line all the way through the bait to a dressed treble hook that is minimally exposed on the back end. Gonna try this and see. wont be totally weedless like using the wide gap embedded, but wont snag up like the hanging trebles on the hard lures.

Stuff a piece of a cut up sponge in a tube bait and its unsinkable. You can rig it any way you want and its costs next to nothing...

they are probably nice but lil bit expensive for me to buy just to catch bass that would prolly hit alot cheaper lures all the same

I knew I'd come up with a use for those boxes of ear plugs at work! Thanks Stone.

i caught 4 around dusk last night on them, and they might be expensive but you get a 4 pack versus buying one zara spook for 4 dollars you can get 4 of these for 8 bucks. and Rhnstne, your sponge in the tube could work but you would have to tinker with it alot. i tried it last night and it didnt exactly "walk"

Yes. It greatly depends on the type of sponge you use. I've played around with it and different sponges have very different qualities. I don't know enough about plastic, etc. to know what the different materials are called, but the buoyant stuff that those foam chairs and mattresses are made of will not sink… The really soft, light sponge that you wash your car with will float for a long, long time before it sinks. After it sinks, you can wring it out and it will float again. I was toying with the idea of spraying it with crawfish scent inside, too. I’m not sure how valuable that would be for a topwater bait, but, rigged to fish under the water, it might be pretty sweet.
