Buying Bait around Monroeville area?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone lives around the Monroeville area.  I went trout fishing in the area last Saturday and couldn't find a gas station anywhere that even offered redworms.  Does anyone live in this area and know where I can get some bait (preferably minnows)?

which direction are you coming from? its about half way in between irwin and where route 48 and route 30 cross in north versailles. theres a motor sports store and directly across from it is a residential no outlet road and the shop is on the right hand side, youll see the live bait sign out front

nice....I live right in the monroeville area so I'd probably be hoping on route 30 right where it meets 48.  Sounds like it's quick from there.

I saw a guy catch a few on them.  I only had powerbait on me and between 2 of us we only caught 9 chubs.

Ultimate Outdoors up rt 286 near Holiday Park sells redworms, I believe. We fish turtle for carp a little downstream from the trout area.

Thanks Chris. I've been meaning to stop in there anyways.  I know just where it is.  If you don't mind me asking why fish for carp when you can catch a trout?

I fish for trout a good bit, but enjoy the fight of a decent sized carp. That area is loaded with channel cats too.

I've never caught a channel in all the time I've fished that area either.  Do they get some decent size to them?

The carp and channels are further downstream closer to the mon, sorry about the confusion. Corn will catch the carp and chicken livers or nightcrawlers for the cats. I fished brush creek once and wouldn't mind going back. Water was high and muddy when we were there.

Last I checked the sunoco in pitcairn right on Broadway sells bait but no minnows. But I think its probably the closest.

so is this place a house that just happens to seel minnows or an actual baitshop?  I don't care either way I just want to know what to look for when I go.  Anyone have any idea as to what their hours are?

If fishing Turtle Creek area, the 7/11 at Trafford Bridge has plenty of trout bait...red worms, meal worms etc at this time of year. Been going great at that creek this season...higher than usual and fish really spread out from the usual 20 man holes!!!!....
