Laurel Hill Creek at Trent

can anybody please tell me what the stream conditions are around trent - i don't want to drive all the way up there just to find high, fast, muddy and un-fishable conditions.  thinking about going up tuesday the 26th or the 27th.

many thanks,
phish

It was raining a bit this morning on my way out east along the turnpike, so my report may not be totally correct, depending on how much it rained today.  But I would bet the conditions are still good.

Fished Laurel Hill around the lake on Saturday and conditions were suprisingly good considering all the rain we've been getting. Water wasn't very high and only slightly stained green.  If all else fails and water is bad there are alot of smaller feeder streams that will still fish well.

thanks guys - that water level log is very useful.  i know there was a localized storm that went thru this morning but i think i'm heading up.  i helped stock section 4 thursday and the water was high, fast and muddy and the fish pretty much clammed up until friday morning where the weather improved to cloudy, windy rainy and cold - but at least the stream was fishable.  it's been a lousy opening so far this year.

What number on the Ursina ft.gage would make it unfishable and not worth a trip.
I guess what I'm asking is, what's an average level for Laurel Hill.

just got back from one day of "fishing" and two days of "wishing" on secion 4 - take a look at the chart for april 26th - the level was below 2.2 and the water was very good (level and color) - we got a rain dump that night and note the level went to over 2.4 - at 2.4 the stream was high fast and muddy - not really fishable but i was able to fish below the spillway but needed ear protection.

the evening of the 27th - it rained all night and sent the level to 2.63 and the morning of the 28th was not fishable.

so, i would say that 2.2 to 2.3 is the breakpoint - above that stay home, below that, go for it.
