Caninsburgh lake

What is the best bait to use for the channel cats in canonsburgh lake? I fish on the left side of the bridge for cats. I have been there 3 times, and used pieces of seafood. Squid, octopus, shrip, etc. Ain't caught anything.

I picked up a number of channel cats (and bullheads) on sweet corn, dough ball and cut bait years ago. None were of any real size.

That's very conveniet for me, considering it is extremely for me to get creek chub. Also wondering, where there is any good bass action on the lake, and what lure should I use.

best bass action i ever had there was below the dam when they were spawing throwing shinners up to where the water hits and letting the bobber float around the bass would nail it.  if you are looking for a good bass lake go to crosscreek it is a big bass lake and there are some real pigs in there

I was reading the 2000 biologist report for canonsburgh lake and I said that they stocked muskie and tiger muskie. Are the still stocking them, and, if not, are there any in there?

Caught a 36" channel cat fishing for trout on my small boat with my wife (then girlfriend) on a maggot filled size 8 hook floating right by the wood pilings on top of the dam.

Damdest thing I've ever seen. Think it was around 1995...she's back in there too.

Leo, been fishing for trout with minnows there for 30 years...never caught or saw a Muskie of any kind. Doesn't mean their not in there tho.

    Crappie, anyone?
How deep are they--if you're catchin' any. Weighing my options from shore: A) cbg B) pete's lake C) cross creek

20 years ago i my buddie caught a small muskie below the spillway.
i had a fish commision guy tell me that stocking the trout is like ringing a dinnerbell for the muskie in there. i spent  quite a bit of time that summer dragging big plugs and such but didn't even get a follow.
the musky at canonsburg may be an urban myth.
i also saw an old fish commision book that said they stocked walleye in there also. it looked to be from the seventies.
if you ask me that place went to hell when the old lakeview tavern closed. that place was great.

I have done really well on chicken livers for the cats below the dam, biggest was 10 pounds. As for bass i like using a tub jig and bounce it againt the far wall below the dam caught some nice size smallies. There are musky in there just not that many, caught a little one trout fishing a few years back on a panther martin.

I was there Saturday night and caught a crappie using a top water lure. All I've really seen/heard people catching are trout. It was still pretty muddy. Although.... I can't really say I've ever caught much there.
