First trip to Presque Isle questions

Going May 13 or May 20. With my boat. Fishing artificial only for smb primarily and lmb as well. Should that be a good time in May? What lures for the smallies do you suggest and colors/patterns. Weedlines, dropoffs, flats? What are good water temps to shoot for? Is anyone willing to correspond with me as we get into May with current fishing reports or direct me to fishing reports via the web. Sorry if these sound like stupid questions but this trip is on my bucket list and want it to be successful however fishing is fishing. No guarantees

might want to fish for perch then also, last year at those dates were very good for jumbo perch in close

Erie weather has been all over the place....it would be really hard to predict the water temps.

What I can tell you from past experience is the bay should be plenty warm enough to catch a ton of fish by then.

Mr. Slickfish, that is exactly what I want to hear. Are tubes a big consideration there like they are here on the Susquehanna? 
 
 

Lots of duuds fish tubes here...not my thing, but a very effective way to fish the bay.

6-8 inch Purple worm,weightless,weedless in 3 to 6 fow. You can have all the largemouth you want.

I was up there 2 springs ago as my first trip ever to fish the bay. 7" Power worm in Tequila Sunrise, how and where Deetz says, and I caught bass all day. Into the afternoon action slowed down for everyone, but I was doing just as good as anyone else I saw all day.

What is this goby you speak of?

If ya google gobie you will see what the invasive species looks like. word of caution if you do catch any gobies kill them and dont transport them there is a penalty if caught doing so.
