Fly Fishing setup

New to the Salmon River... going there the 3rd week of April for Browns and Steelies just wondering if this would be a good setup for a leader and tippet on my 9 foot 9 weight Fly rod:

Leader: 4 foot 20 lb mono, 3 foot 12 lb mono, barrel swivel (with 4lb tag of 1 foot mono for sinker), 3 feet of 9.3 lb flurocarbon. Plan on using woolybuggers (size 8 hook and salmon black hooks), size #10 Estaz (predominantly blue),Eggi Juan Kenobi, and glo-bug flies in salmon and orange predominantly.

Sound O.K.? Other suggestions?

IMO you are too heavy - especially for Spring droppies - you'd be better off with a 7 weight..

Leader sounds good. 7 weight is usually better but with the high water currently coupled with rolling over big flies; a nine weight could have its benefits...

That set up is good for mud sharks but heavier than needed for Steel. The 6/7 wt would be much better but if that's all you have give it a whirl.

Been using a 5 wt 8 1/2 foot rod with a max of 8 lb Drennan all winter. 6 lb is usually just fine. The rod may well be a bit short but that 8 lb never broke on fish although the 6 did on occasion.
The swivel is only necessary in DSR the rest of the river went to just leader a number of years ago. You seem farther along with fly stuff than I though and suppose that swivel  is just for the lower wt leader-but just in case you thought it was still needed.
Dont rule out garden hackle for working along submerged logs and pockets with the fly rig-love it. Would pobably go back to a heavy rod in 2,000 of water myself as the 5 wt might not have the spine for it.

hey trout, you can go bigger with the buggers and other streamers and wets this time of year; zonkers, leaches, intruders...the tag for split shot i dont recomend; i find the presentation is better when clipped on above the swivel; and enough to maybe feel bottom sometimes which makes tag unnecessary due to no hang ups, although not necessary, i recomend the swivel even if not using weight, seems to help role the fly out and get it down. remember though, starting may 1st there is no additional weight to your leader in both fly zones, which includes no swivel. during this period of time in the fly zones only, you can fish flies with no more than 1/8 oz. of weight tied in to it, or sink tips. good luck

Hey Dime-thanks for the fly zone info-might have saved me a ticket. Not that I use much wt anyhow but weight is weight. Gotta find those weighted flys.
BTW Dime - you wernt far off with that higher water prediction similar to last year around the 15th
Finally got some politics finished up and may be able to get up mid week- next week. Good luck to all
