Where to fish the allegheny for musky or pike?

I was wondering where exactly in the allegheny is a good place to get hooked up with some nice musky or pike. The part that I am nearest to is the stretch by the Science Center in pitt.

Probably not the answer you are looking for but just below Kinzua Dam is often good for pike.

Agreed. The best I've done for Pike in the Allegheny was below Kinzua, as well. This question was asked last year and someone reported catching pike in the Allegheny near Pittsburgh, but I've never personally caught or seen anyone catch a pike in the Allegheny near Pittsburgh. Musky yes, pike no.

Emlenton area would be my second choice-not sure about public access.
Largest musky I ever caught was by a friends camp near the girl scout camp.
Landed a few nice pike there also

Probably some idiot who caught a gar and thought it was a pike.  I've fished the Allegheny a lot over the years and never came across someone who hooked into a pike.

I have seen a handful of pike come from the Lower Allegheny in recent years

Leo, there are decent numbers of muskies in the Lower Allegheny.  I don't know any specific areas that far down river, but I would suggest trying all the usual spots like the WW discharges, creek mouths, and any other manmade habitat like riprap, barges, bridges, ect.  A boat is going to be pretty much a requirement anywhere on that stretch of river.

There's also a forum here in SW PA section that has 15 pages of musky fishing in the 3 rivers. Check that out and you should get a ton of useful info.

Like the previous posters mentioned- pike in the lower stetches of the Allegheny River are not overabundant. However, there are certainly pike in these stretches and good numbers of musky which are supplemented by stocking.

I personally caught and released a pike about 24 inches from the Natrona pool last fall. I've seen pictures throughout the local bait shops with fisherman catching pike out of the lower Allegheny, so there are certainly a few to be caught. I think you'd have better success targeting muskies though.

In pitt? Like i said, my main interest is muskie. I just figured pike would be more abbundant.

for musky, in pitts on shore or in a boat your best bets on the 3 rivers are at the dams. also on shore, the point(mon side is better) and all long clemente park, down to and just past the submarine is a good choice. ive never caught a pike on the 3 rivers but have on the beaver river and the beaver can be easily accessed by boat or shore. just sayin'

Is there a decent population of pike in the Beaver? I've fished the confluence of the Beaver and Ohio and done pretty well for walleye, sauger and bass, but no pike.
