Is that there one of them sprey rods? Nothing like the sound of the line being stripped from one of the old reels. You announce yourself.

While I did hook up a bunch, I only landed that big suckface fish.
The one thing I did get, was to play surgeon for the first time. That was fun.

    That bugger is now "scented".

    Rammy,

Just wondering what kind of rod you were using. Was that the stock reel seat or an optional one to allow the use of reels with non-AFTMA compliant feet? I can only assume that you would never file down the foot on a vintage Hardy.

    beulah 4/5 switch
the stock reel seat and hardware had no issues with this reel's ribbed brass foot

i can get you a better picture and measurement if you want
but you can kind of see the foot in this pic

    Rammy,

I'd like to take you up on your offer of a picture and measurement, when you have a chance. It p*sses me to no end that the reel seats on my Helios and Winston switch rods are too small for the ribbed brass foot of my Hardy St. John, which is newer than your Uniqua.

I'd also add, for the benefit of anyone who likes vintage Hardy reels, that you can forget about using one on a Sage 99. The reel seat on the Sage 99 is of such a design that it doesn't even perfectly accommodate the foot of a Hardy Demon, which is a modern reel that one would assume has an AFTMA-compliant foot. The only answer I've received concerning this is that Sage reel seats are manufactured to encourage people to purchase Sage reels. That answer, of course, did not come from a source affiliated with Sage.

    the 4" vs the 3 5/8"

    4" filed

    3 5/8" ribbed

    i mentioned a clean up
here is the clean, greased/lubed, and fished guts
