Rio Gallegos
Was wondering if anyone has had an opportunity to try the new Patagonia Rio Gallegos waders yet. Need a new pair of waders and these are the ones I am looking at. Hoping for some good reviews. Can't beat the warranty and I think the new features put them ahead of Simms G3s.

Two weeks ago I sent my 2004 G3's back to simms for repair. They said they weren't repairable and offered any wader at 40% off. I asked about how long I could hold off on that since my current waders are fine and the answer I got was two weeks. I don't really need a new pair so I tried to get a free pair of boots. Didn't work, just 20% off. Long story short.. I got a pair of G3 large king for $258. They are certainly a great wader but I put them on ebay as they are a tiny bit short. No desire to pay to ship to and from simms again. My current patagonia watermasters are fine and they replaced the wader no questions asked in 2009. I'm thinking they paid for return shipping too and because they dropped the price from what I paid for them to what they charged for a new pair when I sent them back, they gave me a $54.00 giftcard. No matter how much money you spend on breathables, they are all going to leak eventually. The replacement policy of patagonia is unbeatable. What I like about the g3 is the hand pockets. Fanastic for cold weather. What I don't like about simms is how tight they are around the calf/ankle area. It's a major project to get the waders off with two layers of clothing on. I have no experience with the Rio Gallegos but I wouldn't hesitate to purchase patagonia over simms.
My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

Yeah I have experience with both brands and I can agree that the Patagonia customer service is better. Just wondering if anyone has experience with the new model before I make a decision.

I've had a pair of Hodgman breatheable for 6 years now and still no leaks. Can't beat that with a stick for the 179 I think they were

I'm looking at that the pradagonia's, too. I have a lot of patagonia clothing, and can say it's top notch. I assume the waders will be as well. Their customer service is unbeatable no matter what you're buying.

depends on what features you are looking for I looked a pair over and they were pretty comfortable the lined feet are nice... cool convertible height...the shoulder straps are secured at the waist (not top of wader)... feel bombproof... new seam location and taping i don't like the lack of a side/handwarmer pocket... only 1 flip out and one small front make sure you get the correct size

The only thing I am worried about is the boot size, I have sasquatch feet. I wear a 13 or 14 street shoe and I think my wading boots are 14 or 15s. The pata waders are supposed to be 10-12 size. I will have to find a pair to try.

Yeah it was pretty awesome. Did 20 something hours, helped with Trout schools and tying classes.

Have something in the works, looks pretty possible. Will definitely let more out if it actually happens. It involves WY/MT.
