A friend at work showed me a photo of a monster crappie his grandson caught by Trout Run this past week. Sounds like the lake is ready!

Sure wasn't ready where I fishing this morning.  Water level came up again.  Fished for 3 hours at the causeway and never had a bump.  You should be able to get some fish from a boat but the shoreline is pretty much done until water levels fall again.

Least you got to fish. I never got out, due to work and having a bad cough. Today (Sunday) should have been great. Fish should be enjoying the warmth in the shallowest water near shore, 1-3 feet. On the sunny, downwind shores of the lake or shallow inlets that warm fast. I'd try that first, only try deeper etc if that doesn't work. Disagree about boats. Boats just get you more places quickly. Look for the fish real near the bank near any kind of wood, bush or other cover. You might have been casting over them!

USACE says the lake's only 1 ft over summer pool. That can't be bad.

Trouble is that you can't walk the shoreline without hip boots or waders.  Tried from a 1/2 foot down to 12 feet and nothing.  As for the boat, it would let you get to the down timber so that i could be fishable, now with the water up, access to much of the timber and shore line is restricted.  Going to give it a try in about 1/2 hour if the rain holds off.

Well went back up this morning.  Fished from very shallow to very deep.  Only hits I had were down about 12-14'. 2 small crappies and one other runner was it for the morning.  846 area, I was the only one there.

i really dont think this lake is ready. give it a few days with 50 plus weather then it'll be primed. just my opinion.

Just saw the local forecast for this weekend, possible rain-snow mix highs in the 40's.  I'm beginning to think about 3 more weeks at least.
