Looking for perch and many fish!!

Hello looking for some help. Me and a couple of friends are coming up april 20th and the 21st. We usually come up in june and have a blast catching smallies, largemouth, rockbass, and crappie.. But we are coming up early to catch some perch.. We have a boat and go all around the bay monument and that area there but we are looking for good tips on perch fishing around the bay..We will have a boat so anywhere we can get them very interested and apprecate it alot. PS. i heard of a spillwell also about 2miles on the lake to the right when you come out thru the bay. Any info would be greatly appreciated..Happy fishing and we love you ERIE...... drew5656

I would think the perchin would be hit or miss that time of year. You still mite catch them in small schools in the bay. You can try just outside of the channel too. Mite have a better chance at the smallies in the cribs ( thats the area 2 miles east of the channel ) Good luck! Post up some pics when you get back.

Most of the perch fishing (especially when we're catching them 2-3 at a time) is done during the summer months (say from Memorial Day on) when the perch are in large schools in the lake.

Do like everybody else has done, put some of your own time in and learn the water and it's seasons.
No all on here are willing to release "secrets" that they have learned over time, especially to posters with less than 10 posts.

"whats the specie",   "2 or 3 at a time",   "P.S. i heard the steelhead"
Ease up, don't hound all of the time!
You might get a few more "honest" answers.

I have caught nice perch that time of year off the waterworks dock and the north pier.  As I look back on old fishing journals april perch fishing in the bay has brought me the best percentages of large perch - 12" - 15".  Other times of the year are when I have to sort through a lot of dinks.  Good luck  Drew and have fun.  I for one am grateful to the members on this site who have given me some helpful hints.

Nothing wrong with someone asking! You don't have to give gps numbers, just a little help for someone who may only get to Erie a couple times a year. just say'n!

My Wife said, if I go fish'n one more time, she'll leave me! God, I'm going to miss her!

Now I remember the reason why I seldom check in on this website. It never was much of a source for information.

Please write Borg on your boat so I can slap the $h1t out of you when I see you at the launch.

The best thing about it is Fish USA and their great selection and prices on tackle. I still shop there religiously and send others there too.

Now back to OGF where people know how to catch fish and aren't afraid to help others out. See you at the Hetfest?
