Lake Fishing Pike/Musky

I usually fish rivers for them but looks like they'll be blown out this weekend so thinking about trying some lakes and I'm kinda out of the loop. Thinking trying somerset for skis and maybe laurel hill for pike. I've fished Highpoint many times but it's kinda out in the middle of no where and want to try somewhere new.

What about Quemahoning? Heard there wre pike there. is there a boat launch?
Also heard some lakes around Greensburg had northerns or tigers in them but not sure.

I'll take any suggestions, I just need to hook something!! Thanks

If you are thinking about Que. I think that it is electric motor only & that you can't have a gas motor on the boat whether you plan on using it or not.I would think that Somerset would be your best bet. sam

    Mike,

Give Keystone Power Dam a try.  Water is in the mid 40 degree range and clear.  Fish are still deep as of this past weekend.

    I agree...Loyalhanna may be a good choice.

If you are planning to fish any of the resivoirs You may want to check thier web site first. They are now projecting Loyalhana Res. to be approx. 17' higher than it is to-day. Also Conemaugh & Crooked Creek will be at least 10' higher. sam

Keystone power dam is probably a drive for you from where your at but its a nice lake and doesn't get affected from rain falls. Lots of small tigers and still some nice pure breds lurking around.

Loyalhanna will be muddy!  It takes awhile to settle out after heavy rains.

I didn't know somerset got real muddy like that.

It never has a lot of visibility but I haven't seen it muddy for as far back as I can remember.  Since I retired 5 years ago I have fished it quite frequently.

However, I don't fish for pike but i have not caught one in at least 5  years.  Have seen a few muskies though.
