The Stonycreek river down from route 30 and Beaverdam creek off of 281 are both excellent waters to fish for trout.

Call or stop at the Fish Commission office in Somerset and see if they have the phamplet titled  Fisheries of the Stonycreek & Upper Conemaugh Basin.  If they don't carry it perhaps you can find in the online website.

I haven't fished it for many years but Beaverdam Creek as mentioned was decent.  It is, or at least was, a very brushy creek.  Stoneycreek from around Shanksville down to Kantner is a decent wide stream for this area.

There is one place I don't want to name that you might try but I don't want to mention it on line. If your interested send me a p.m.

That brochure was produced by the Stonycreek-Conemaugh River Improvement Project. You can download it from their website at www.scrippa.org/downloads/SCRIP_brochure_3reduced.pdf

we own a lake house on lake stoneycreek and ive fished the stoneycreek river alot in the town of shanksville is where they begin stocking the stoneycreek. That part of the creek is approved trout waters and you have to abide by the pfbc laws and season but most of the river isnt approved trout water but i can guarantee you most of it has alot of trout year round. also try looking for a steam called the raisetown branch of the juniata. we helped stock it during the somerset county portion and it meanders up into the mountains and we came out on route 30 some where after fishing the whole day. It leads to new baltimore but i dont remember the name of the road. If someone knows it post it, but if not ill post it in the next couple weeks once the season opens up.
