Opening weekend trout w/ palomino

Had a great start to the trout opening weekend.  I drifted live bait for two days and put about 100 stockies on the hook.  Of course, nearly all fish released for another day but I did keep this 19" palomino just because it has been many years since I last caught one.  I should thank all the steelhead fishermen that have helped me over the years because I now catch far more stockies than ever before.  I'm convinced that the steelhead fishing has made me a more successful trout fisherman all together.  Steelhead fishing makes you pay attention to the details.  I'm going to try one more trip to Erie this coming weekend.

Caught the palomino off a minnow but most of the fish took a small piece of night crawler.  I had some maggots left from my last steelhead trip and they caught fish pretty well too until I ran out.

Nice looking fish...you make a good point about paying attention to details. IMO one of the keys in becoming a successful fisherman, no matter what you fish for or how you fish.
