Shades...

Looking at getting a new pair of shades.  I had a nice pair that I managed to keep for a couple of years, and I lost them last year while crossing a raging torrent.  I am not really set on anything, but I am looking pretty hard at these natives.

Any other suggestions in this price range?  I don't exactly guide for bonefish on the flats, so they don't have to be too extreme.  I just miss having a decent set, the ones I have been getting by on recently are total garbage.  I also wear a 7 7/8 hat, so they can't be too small.

Haven't looked at or held the Natives personally but I would strongly recommend Smith Action optics. Very fair price, durable, and good customer service. I have not had any problems with mine. Most models should also be around that price range.

I wear Smiths and have for 7 or 8 years, different pairs. I have one pair of glasses that I wear fishing and also everywhere outside. It took me a while to find the pair I wanted, because not all glasses fit the same, they are not like a t-shirt. I wanted to try them on before buying. Don't want a pair of fishing glasses that give me a headache because they are too tight behind my ears.

I must've tried 20 pairs before I found one that is both comfortable and that I'd not feel like an idiot wearing at a BBQ or concert.

Big fan of polycarbonate lenses. Stay away from real glass in case they shatter from a split shot or getting whacked with a clouser. Ever seen a shattered pair of glass glasses? google it, not pretty.

I've always been partial to Ray Bans, but I got a new pair of Maui Jim's (kind of a funny story, because I would never pay that much for glasses) and they are great.

I have my second pair of natives and love them. Have had others that were mentioned and they were all great. Love the natives though. They are extremely comfortable.

Ditto what RIZ said about MRFC. I bought 2 pair of Smith Optics Lochsa w/2.5 bifocal, 1 brown lens and 1 copper lense. Both at 1/2 off retail price. Very nice, high quality pieces. I do most of my shopping through MRFC since my favorite fly shop ( Orchard View Angling ) closed about 5 years ago.

I wear Cut'off's like Halupka and have for 7 or 8 years, different pairs. I have quite a few pairs of these that I wear fishing and also everywhere outside. It took me a while to gain the confidence, but I managed.

    thumbs up man

Those are nice but I see their rx only come in large or med/lg.
I have a small frame so not sure if these would fit right.  6 7/8 hat.

My Maui Jim's are not prescription, but I got them from an optometrist and he does prescription lenses for many of the Maui Jim's he carries. He also fits and adjusts them just like any other prescription glasses. Mine were fitted perfectly and are a joy during long days of use, when regular shades would hurt your temples or nose, or slide off your face.

those are nice glasses...I like a "mirrored" lense...so I can "look without being seen"...ha ha...last time I had a good pair I lost them in a week...so I stick with the cheepos...

right now I have polarized i-gogs that I got from gander mtn. they run $20-30...

I go thru a pair bout every 6 months...wear them all the time - even when it rains...
