Poundin Steel..

Hit up one of the tribs today, fished over 2 miles of creek.
Not many fish and the ones there are getting tough..
Picked up 3 for my effort.
I thought busting shelf ice was done for the year..

My kinda fish right here..

Good job Bings. I thought about it but the Erie NOAH at the airport said 16 degrees this morning. I did finish a bunch of crossword puzzles and had a martini at noon.

I picked up a few yesterday in about the same distance after the sun got high enough to melt some of the slush ice off. It sure wasn't much fun for the first couple hours. I was jerking on ice floes and missing the few hits I was getting. It sure has gone downhill the last couple of springs although the ones I did get were 7-8#. Got a 32" male last week and damm near got a beaver yesterday as he swam underwater through my drift. Try again tomorrow.

I usually bypass any posts having to do with steelhead fishing, well just because it isn't my cup of tea...but I saw it was by Bings...and wth, he usually has some nice pics on his posts. Anyway, I'm glad I took a look because today was one of those days I'd just as soon forget, and the last pic gave me a good laugh. Thanks bings, I needed that!

As odd as it sounds, I'm 99% sure that's a bear skull. Definitely a predator skull and looks too "stocky" to be a coyote or fox. I'm just about positive that it's a bear.

Nope, not a bear skull. The nasal opening is way too far forward. There is no additional bone structure to support the canine teeth.

I think it looks like a black bear skull.  The nasal opening is a little far forward for a bear like cbeagler said, but there could be some bone missing, worn, or broken off the very front making it look that way.

Coyotes, wolves, and dogs are usually more elongated and always have that hole under the eye socket more forward in the middle between the eye and nasal opening.  A bear is the only thing around here I know of, that would be that large and have the hole under the eye socket so close to the eye, which is what I think gives it away.  Do you have any pics with other angles of that skull Bings?  Maybe one looking straight down or straight at the front of it?

the skull looks like a large racoon skull. I used to collect them, bleach them and then paint them when I was a teenager. It looks just like them.

    How long was it?

the biggest ones I saw were about 7-8" long from a monster racoon.

"A Homewood man led police on an hourlong car chase that ended with a crash injuring three officers.
