Thanks for the replies. I'm going to Kill Devil Hills later this month. A neighbor buddy recently retired, so he and his wife bought a new house there for a second home. They are located near the 8 MP.

I will take your advice,Porktown, and take a variety of rods. Besides that surf rod, I'll take a medium action 9' and a
7' med-heavy. Plus I'll take a few reels (Quantum Cabo 60, Quantum Boca 50 and a Shimano Spirex 4000.

I agree about buying from the local tackle shops. Local advice is invaluable.

DarDys, I always enjoy reading and seeing your photos of your yearly trip to Key West fishing for the silver beast. I'm jealous.
This year I have a chance to go to the OBX. Never been there before. I will miss fishing for tarpon though!

Not a bad sail for North Carolina....first billfish got him a dunking in the creek back at the dock.

Thanks DarDy's was pretty excited about it myself. Took about 7 trips for my first billfish but I finally caught a sail and I couldnt of been happier.

They ended up eating all the spanish mackeral before I could even think about making tacos. I think im goin back in August I may have to make another attempt.
