I usually dont worry to much about it if the water is still cold.  Once the water temp starts to climb I'll pull the drain plug and let water out then add fresh water, or if the plug has an open top to allow for overflow to drain then just run water and let it overflow the plug.

They also make different pill type additives that add O2 and such, but I have never used them and don't know if it works or not, but why spend more money on fish your going to eat anyway?....I could see it for fishing tournaments and such I guess...

The worst day hunting or fishing will always be better then the best day at school or work!

You can buy a switch from Cabelas that it can run all the time or cycle on/off. I put one in my boat. It's nice.

Not sure of your set up, but mine has a pipe that runs from the drain about 10" up. Keep your livewell running to circulate the water and it drains from the top of the pipe out. When you want to drain, just pull the pipe.

Same as mine. It can't overflow. Works good.

My live well is built in and shoots water out the ports on each side of the boat. Just run water every now and then to keep it aerated

Just a bit of advice: If you want to keep crappie late spring/early summer, forget about the livewell. Bring a cooler with ice. Crappie through the ice and early spring are fine, but they tend to get mushy and soft when the water warms above 50 deg. Icing them as soon as you catch them keeps the flesh firm and fresh.
