hey everyone

hey guys i just joined fish erie and was wondering if anyone coould give me some tips on channel cat fishing what to use etc... i would greatly appreciate anything thanks so much!!!

    7ft+ med/heavy spinning rod for distance casting. Heavy duty reel with 15lb mono for a good pull. Use circle hooks with minnows, worms, chicken livers, shrimp, most other forms of meat. Take a chair, a 6 pack, and some friends down to your local river and cast to the channel... It's bullet proof.

    As far as grabbing them, I like to grab em in the lip like a bass. It gives them a chance to get me back for hooking them.

    Do what I do...fish for walleyes using shiners/jigs and crawlers on a harness. I catch a ton of channels.

    Slick, WELCOME! to the boards. 1 good reply out of seven. That is probably average. Can't help you on the Cat's, but there are alot of guy's on here that will.

    creek chubs, suckers, and blue gills all work well as cut bait for channels. some people will step on cut bait to kinda mash it to disperse the scent better. or you can just put some slits in a bait to give it more surface area. never heard anything good about dip baits. not worth the foul stench in my opinion.

    thanks alot split shot and fishin guy i went to gander mtn and opened up one of those dip baits and having to run out of the aisle id say i have to agree with you on the stench
