Favorite Trout Waters

It's almost that time of year. What's everyone's favorite trout waters in SW PA for opening day? Until last year I fished in NW PA for trout. Someone convinced me to stay closer to home and go to Racoon Creek....needless to say neither of us caught a fish so it was a bad experience.

I generally don't fish the first two weekends of the season. However, my favorite waters are Laurel Hill Creek, anywhere between Barrons Bridge down to Lower Humbert Bridge. When Laurel Hill gets too warm for trout, we head for the Yough well into November. Anywhere between Ramcat Run and Ohiopyle. I hope we all have a fun and safe season coming up. Good luck all.

Millers Run Washington County...yes, I know Millers Run you ask?
I have been going there for opening day since I was 16 (I'll be 46 in May). I now take my 10 year old daughter and we camp out and fish the same spot every year. We catch and release and have averaged catching about 25 each opening day...Why drive to catch em if you don't have to I say.
She did catch a 20" golden 2 years ago but I don't know how to post the picture.
Thanks to "Extremem Shallow" for the tip!!!!

I don't have one favorite stream in pa but my top three would be meadow run, laurel, and enlow fork. If you are looking for a great fishery I suggest fishing the casselman river in maryland they stock 10,000 trout in a mile and a half of river and its artificial only catch and release

Thanks Musky....but as the name says I find them Trout tasty so catch and release won't work to well for me...seems like it would be a blast though

I keep about a dozen trout every year but I don't eat them I use them for mink trapping bait I usually keep them from a local creek that is stocked cause everyone keeps them from there. I released the ones I catch from enlow fork if you fish the right holes everyone releases them that is the holes that are hard to get to had my best day trout fishing ever last year caught 42 trout in a day on the fly rod people were getting mad cause I was throwing them back but its my choice not there's think they just wanted my spot I just enjoy the sport

if you are not familiar with the yough in any respect, get there... live bait, specifically shiners, and you will smack the smallies, trout, etc.  The scenery is worth the drive alone.  Easy access as well... you can hop on  your bike and ride the trail for miles starting at Ohiopyle and hop off and fish wherever you so please.  Floating it, from what I hear, is ideal.

plan on doing some canoeing this summer.

Indian Creek and Loyalhanna are both good freestone streams.. plenty of stocked trout and some natives too, good waters, plenty of access.
