It was a grateful day for the men who experienced a nearly tragic event last summer.
If you can remember, last year on June 25, four men were saved after their boat sank out on Lake Erie, and now the men who rescued them are getting much needed recognition.
Jack Bish's 25 foot cabin motorboat left Walnut Creek Access with four people on board.
Shortly after they departed from land something frightening happened, their boat started to sink out on the lake
Now, nine months later the rescuers along with the survivors were reunited at the Sports and Travel Expo, rewarding the six men that saved lives on that summer day.
"This is absolutely great,†said Captain Jack Bish.
“It was kind of a surprise not a shock I thought this is good they did this for those guys. You get to see them again I don't remember them the other guys†said, Survivor Bud Price
On behalf of the PBFC and Officer Tolber, the investigating officer they were each presented with a Life Saving award for being the first responders and for saving lives.
"Biggest thing to happen to me in my lifetime. I am pretty proud, “said Rescuer Ferd Matula
